Alumni Program

Your Best Relapse Prevention Tool
Recovery is a new way of life, and after treatment, you may feel overwhelmed and anxious, but we’re only a phone call or an email away. We are dedicated to empowering your recovery by providing fellowship and ongoing support. White Oak Recovery Center’s alumni program enables former residents that completed our addiction treatment program to stay connected for life.
Staying Engaged and Connected
When you join White Oak Recovery Center’s alumni program, you become a part of the White Oak family, a support network of people that encourage growth and provide guidance and accountability through your recovery journey. Surrounding yourself with people in recovery from addiction is one of the strongest motivators to thrive in your new life. Our weekly alumni meetings feature a recovery speaker and 12-step meetings to stay involved and on track. We also arrange recovery retreats for beach get-togethers, family-style barbeques, and sports games like seeing the Dodgers, Lakers, Clippers, and Kings games. We know recovery is a life-long dedication; let us help you stay committed.
What Is the White Oak Alumni Program?
Our alumni program is a living extension of care, not formal therapy and not a replacement for clinical treatment when more support is needed. It’s a structured, welcoming recovery community that keeps you plugged into:
- Peer connection with other White Oak alumni
- Ongoing access to familiar clinicians and staff
- Alumni meetings and sober social activities
- Guidance when stress, cravings, or mental health symptoms resurface
You’re not starting from scratch if life throws you off balance. Through the alumni program, returning for help feels normal, not like a failure. We focus on practical, realistic support that fits into real lives, not perfection.
Who Our Alumni Program Supports
The White Oak Recovery Center alumni program is open to graduates from all levels of care, including:
- Residential addiction treatment
- Dual diagnosis treatment
- Mental health treatment programs
- PHP, IOP, and outpatient programs
Many alumni continue with sober living, therapy, or community-based support groups. Our program helps tie those pieces together, providing consistency and a familiar recovery environment in Hollywood and the greater Los Angeles area.
Some people stay closely involved from day one. Others step back and re-engage when they need a boost. Both approaches are valid. The goal is a steady connection, not rigid participation.
A Recovery Community Rooted in Hollywood, California
Location matters. Recovery doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens in the context of your life. White Oak’s alumni program is grounded in Hollywood, California, serving alumni across Los Angeles County, the San Fernando Valley, and surrounding Southern California communities.
Our alumni gatherings and events are designed to make sobriety social again. These may include:
- Alumni meetings with open, honest conversation
- Sober social outings and community activities
- Wellness-focused events like hikes, beach days, or fitness meetups
- Informal meetups that help replace isolation with connection
These experiences help alumni rebuild a sense of belonging while navigating life in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment like Los Angeles.
Recovery Doesn’t End After Treatment
Addiction and mental health conditions are not one-time events. They’re ongoing health concerns that require attention, flexibility, and support over time. That’s why aftercare and alumni services are a core part of our treatment philosophy at White Oak Recovery Center.
Whether you completed residential treatment, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), or outpatient care, our alumni program provides continuity. It helps bridge the gap between structured treatment and real-world responsibility, including work, relationships, family, and independence, without losing momentum.
Staying connected after rehab reduces isolation, reinforces healthy routines, and creates accountability that feels supportive rather than restrictive. Simply put: recovery works better when you don’t do it by yourself.
Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis Support After Rehab
Many White Oak alumni continue managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health conditions alongside sobriety. Our alumni program reflects our dual diagnosis treatment philosophy, recognizing that mental health support doesn’t stop when substance use does.
Alumni often revisit and reinforce tools learned in treatment, including skills from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
Through peer conversations and clinician check-ins, these tools stay relevant and usable in everyday situations, such as work stress, relationship challenges, emotional regulation, and decision-making.
When symptoms escalate or life feels unmanageable, alumni have clear pathways back to appropriate levels of care. Getting help early can prevent small issues from becoming major setbacks.
Relapse Prevention and Step-Up Support
Relapse prevention works best when it’s built into normal life, not saved for emergencies. Our alumni program keeps relapse prevention practical and ongoing. Our alumni get regular reminders about recognizing early warning signs, managing high-risk situations, building routines that support stability, and knowing when to ask for help.
If additional support is needed, alumni don’t have to navigate the system alone. We provide guidance on next steps, whether that means brief check-ins, re-engaging in group support, or stepping back into a higher level of care when clinically appropriate.
Returning for support is viewed as a strength, not a failure.
Peer Support, Mentorship, and Purpose
Peer support is powerful because it’s real. Talking to someone who has already walked through early recovery and stayed normalizes the ups and downs that come with change.
Our alumni community offers opportunities for peer connection, mentorship, and service. Some alumni choose to support newer graduates, share experiences, or simply model what sustainable recovery looks like in everyday life.
Purpose matters. Being part of a recovery community helps many alumni move from trying not to relapse to actually building a life they want to protect.
Staying Connected Is Simple
If you’re approaching discharge, your care team can help you enroll in the White Oak alumni program before you leave, so your first weeks back in the community feel supported.
If you’re a past graduate ready to reconnect, reaching out is easy. There’s no pressure, no speeches required. Just a conversation about what support might help right now.
Questions about continuing care or insurance coverage? Our admissions team can help you explore options and verify benefits quickly and confidentially.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Recovery isn’t about white-knuckling through hard days. It’s about building systems, relationships, and habits that make those days manageable.
At White Oak Recovery Center in Hollywood, California, our alumni program exists to keep you connected to people, to purpose, and to support that lasts. Whether you need community, accountability, or a clear path back to care, we’re here.
